Publication Ethics

Journal of Innovation in Computer Science and Pharma-Bio Research

The Journal of Innovation in Computer Science and Pharma-Bio Research is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical publishing and academic integrity. The journal follows the principles and best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all participants in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher) to adhere to these standards.

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities and procedures applied by the journal to ensure the integrity of the scholarly record across its interdisciplinary scope, spanning computer science, pharmaceutical sciences, and biological research.

1. Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts must be original and properly cite all sources. The journal may screen submissions using plagiarism detection tools to identify unoriginal content or substantial overlap with previously published work.

Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism and improper citation, is considered unethical and unacceptable. This also applies to the unattributed use of code, algorithms, datasets, figures, or experimental protocols created by others. Suspected cases are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.

2. Duplicate Submission and Redundant Publication

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not be under consideration, accepted, or published elsewhere in any form. Authors must disclose any prior dissemination of the work, including preprints, conference papers, or related manuscripts.

Duplicate submission or redundant publication may result in rejection or further action in line with COPE recommendations.

3. Data Fabrication and Falsification

Authors are required to present accurate and verifiable data. Fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or selective reporting of data is considered serious misconduct. This includes manipulation of experimental results, laboratory data, clinical data, model outputs, benchmark results, or images.

Where concerns arise, the journal may request access to underlying data, source code, or supporting documentation and may take appropriate action following COPE procedures.

4. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.

All authors must:

Approve the final version of the manuscript
Agree to its submission and publication
Accept responsibility for the integrity of the work

Changes to authorship after submission require written consent from all listed authors and are subject to editorial approval.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, commercial, or personal relationships that could influence their work or judgment. This includes funding sources, industry collaborations, patents, or affiliations with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or technology companies where relevant.

Declared conflicts of interest are evaluated by the editorial team and, where relevant, disclosed in the published article to ensure transparency.

6. Research Ethics and Compliance

Research involving human participants, human-derived data or samples, animals, or clinical studies must comply with applicable ethical standards and regulations. Authors are expected to:

Provide details of ethical approval from an appropriate institutional review board or ethics committee, where applicable
Confirm informed consent for studies involving human participants
Follow accepted guidelines for the care and use of animals in research
Ensure privacy and appropriate anonymization or de-identification of personal, patient, or health-related data

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected or subjected to further investigation.

7. Data Integrity, Reproducibility, and Responsible Use of AI

Authors are encouraged to make data, code, and protocols available where possible, to support transparency and reproducibility. Where data or code cannot be shared, the reason should be stated.

If generative AI or AI-assisted tools are used in preparing a manuscript, their use must be disclosed. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the content.

8. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

The journal is committed to correcting the scholarly record when necessary.

Corrections are issued for honest errors that do not invalidate the work
Retractions are issued when findings are unreliable due to misconduct or major error
Expressions of Concern may be published when an investigation is ongoing

All actions follow COPE guidelines and are implemented transparently and responsibly.

9. Reviewer Ethics

Reviewers are expected to:

Treat manuscripts as confidential documents
Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews
Declare conflicts of interest and decline review where appropriate
Avoid using unpublished material for personal advantage

Reviewer misconduct is taken seriously and addressed in accordance with ethical best practices.

10. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for:

Fair and unbiased editorial decisions
Maintaining confidentiality of submissions
Managing conflicts of interest
Ensuring ethical concerns are investigated and resolved appropriately

Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, relevance, and adherence to journal policies.

11. Handling of Ethical Misconduct

Allegations of ethical misconduct are investigated carefully and confidentially. The journal follows COPE flowcharts and guidance when addressing suspected breaches of publication ethics.

Outcomes may include rejection, correction, retraction, or notification to relevant institutions, depending on the severity of the issue.

12. Commitment to COPE

The Journal of Innovation in Computer Science and Pharma-Bio Research aligns its ethical policies and procedures with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and regularly reviews its practices to ensure continued compliance with international publishing standards.
